We are Open Social. We develop online community software (think: your own private Facebook platform) that helps organizations like Greenpeace and the United Nations fulfill their missions.

Open Social is growing fast! Because of the recent 1.25M euro investment from Peak Capital and Nimbus Ventures, we are growing our position and accelerating our rapid growth in Europe and the US. That's why we are looking for a new Digital Marketer that speaks English and Dutch fluently and that helps us create awareness and traction via search engine marketing and social media advertising to power positive change across the globe with our product.

What's the job?

We are looking for a Digital Marketer to play a key role in developing, executing and growing our search engine marketing strategy & social advertising strategy.

You will be responsible for creating, launching and optimizing all paid campaigns we run to create more brand awareness and generate more leads in the United Kingdom, United States and the Benelux. Not only our Search, Display and Retargeting campaigns in Google’s network, but also engagement campaigns on the social channels LinkedIn and Twitter.

Besides, you will be responsible for all SEO activities: on-page optimizations (like improving the website structure, advising in optimizing the technique, and optimizing and writing English and Dutch content) and off-page optimizations (like improving external brand awareness and trust by PR activities and review gathering). Your goal will be to create bigger and broader visibility in search engines (we are mainly focusing on Google of course). Getting good rankings at keywords our potential customers are using will have your close eye continuously.

You will be part of the Marketing team where you mainly closely work with the Content Marketer and Visual Designer. But you will also work closely with the Sales and Product Teams to understand closely what our potential customers need. Do you accept this challenge 💪🏻?

A bit about us

Open Social empowers people by providing an open-source platform to build online communities of like-minded individuals. Replacing traditional intranets, Open Social fuels bottom-up innovation within organizations.

Early versions of our offering have won the prestigious Dutch Interactive Awards. The project, Greenpeace Greenwire, helps more than 100 000 Greenpeace volunteers bring positive change to the world around the globe. In The Netherlands alone, the software increased volunteering by 600%.

We offer our software in different versions: a free open-source distribution, a fully maintained software-as-a-service, and an enterprise edition. It's built with the platform Drupal, a web technology for creating ambitious digital experiences and has more than a hundred thousand active contributors worldwide. With ambitious new plans in our product roadmap, we aim to decouple our software’s front-end and back-end and create a more customizable and flexible headless platform.

The project is developed by a team of 25 people in The Netherlands and remote across Europe. Our office is based on the old market square in the middle of Enschede.

Your responsibilities

Advertising - Google Ads (Search, Display & Retargeting) and Social Media Ads (LinkedIn & Twitter)

Think of tasks like:

  • Create, launch and test new Google, LinkedIn & Twitter ad campaigns

  • Brainstorm and concepting of campaigns to maximize reach and engagement
  • Review, maintain and optimize existing ad campaigns
  • Create visibility in the full buying cycle of our customers
  • Drive downloads of our community guides and competitor comparison
  • Introduce new paid marketing channels (e.g. Drupal.org, referral programs)
  • Analyze campaigns and report on all advertising metrics per channel


    Search Engine Optimization - Google

    Think of tasks like:

    • Optimize existing copy and landing pages
    • Write new SEO proof landing page content and blog posts
    • Revise and optimize website structure
    • Review technical SEO issues and advice on fixes
    • Develop and implement a link building / PR program
    • Analyze ranking and organic traffic and report on all important metrics


    General

    Think of tasks like:

    • Trend watching new markets and find new keyword and campaign opportunities
    • Work closely together with the Content Marketer and Visual Designer to write copy, create visuals, and improve landing pages
    • Set clear milestones and goals per month (and achieve!)
    • Stay on top of the latest SEM trends (advertising features, ranking factor changes, etc.)
    • Supporting the rest of the marketing team with the overall strategy, messaging, branding, design, and other tactics.


    The experience you bring to the team

    • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in Communications, Marketing, or similar studies
    • Popular ad platforms as Google, Bing, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter has no surprises for you
    • High proficiency in using (one of) these SEO tools: Moz, SEMrush, and Ahrefs
    • Working knowledge of search engine optimization practices
    • 1+ years of experience working in/for a B2B SaaS company
    • You speak English and Dutch fluently and have strong communication skills
    • You can seamlessly work together with marketers, salespeople, and engineers
    • You are able to organize your own work, work independently and take initiative
    • You don’t scare away from challenging goals to reach

    And you get bonus points when you have experience with/in (nice-to-haves)

    • Behavior models (like J.B. Fogg's B=MAP) and persuasion techniques

    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) or other equivalent design tools
    • Building ABM campaigns to start building relationships with potential customers
    • Search engine marketing Growth hacking strategies
    • Knowledge of HTML/CSS
    • Experience with drag and drop site builders such as Elementor and Webflow
    • Open-source software such as Drupal and WordPress
